At an uncontrolled intersection, two drivers arrive at right angles at the same time. Who yields?
- The driver on the left yields to the driver on the right
- The driver on the right yields to the driver on the left
- Both drivers must reverse before either proceeds
- The driver traveling faster goes first
Answer: The driver on the left yields to the driver on the right. At an intersection without signs or signals, the driver on the left yields to the driver on the right when they arrive at about the same time. The same rule applies when two drivers stop at stop signs simultaneously at right angles. Reversing is unnecessary, and speed does not set priority. Approach slowly enough to identify the other vehicle, then let the vehicle on your right proceed. The key cue is the left-right relationship.
