Sample question from test 5
signals-markings
A pedestrian has not entered the roadway and faces an orange steady raised palm. What should happen?
- Remain on the sidewalk and do not enter
- Start crossing quickly
- Walk diagonally against traffic
- Enter after a driver waves
Answer: Remain on the sidewalk and do not enter. The steady raised palm tells a person still on the sidewalk or curb not to enter the roadway. Someone already in the crosswalk may finish reaching safety, but that exception does not invite a new crossing. A driver’s wave cannot replace the pedestrian signal. The key distinction is location: a person who has not started crossing waits at the curb for a permitted indication.
