Use this checklist to prepare your application, then practice the questions you find hardest. Our practice tests do not issue a permit or reserve an official test.
New Jersey: separate your permit and test appointments
- Follow MVC’s first-license steps and assemble the required identification documents.
- Book the initial permit appointment, then the knowledge-test appointment. Bring your documents to each visit.
- If you are under 21, plan for 50 supervised practice hours, including 10 in darkness, and MVC form BA-CSD before licensure. Passing the knowledge test is only one step.
