What to bring to the New Jersey permit test

Bring originals unless the official list says copies are accepted. Items marked Under 18 apply only to minors.

For the regular MVC route, obtain your initial permit first, then book a knowledge-test appointment and bring your documents again. The age-16 school route is different.

We could not find an official list of test languages for New Jersey. Ask your office or check the NJ MVC | First Driver License site before you book.

Good to know

At age 16, work through your school or a licensed driving school for the special learner permit and BA-412D. This is different from booking the regular MVC examination-permit route.
