signals-markings
What does a green arrow over a reversible lane tell you?
- The lane is open for use
- The lane is closing and you must merge
- The lane is closed to all traffic
- Traffic must travel against the normal direction
Answer: The lane is open for use. A green arrow over a flex or reversible lane means the lane is open and can be used. It does not mean that every vehicle must travel against the normal direction, and it is not a closure signal. A yellow X means the lane is closing and drivers must merge to the general purpose lanes. A red X means the lane is closed and cannot be used. Read the overhead indication before entering the lane, then continue to monitor it because the signal can change as traffic volumes or special events change the roadway arrangement.
