Sample question from test 6
emergencies
An ambulance with flashing lights and an audible signal is approaching from behind. What must you do?
- Keep your speed and stay in the lane
- Turn left at the next intersection immediately
- Move right and stop until it has passed
- Follow it closely to get through traffic
Answer: Move right and stop until it has passed. Arizona requires a driver to yield to an approaching emergency vehicle that is using lights or an audible warning. Move to the right side of the road and stop, then remain there until the vehicle has passed. Continuing at the same speed leaves the emergency vehicle less room to respond. Turning across traffic creates a separate conflict, and following behind the ambulance violates the required following distance and can interfere with its response. The useful roadside cue is simple: warning lights or a siren behind you means right, stop, and wait.
