3 questions from the Nebraska practice test

  1. 1. At what age may a person apply for a Nebraska Provisional Operator's Permit, with issuance on or after that birthday?

    1. 14
    2. 16
    3. 15
    4. 17
    Show answer

    16. Nebraska sets the minimum age for a Provisional Operator's Permit at 16, and the permit may be applied for 60 days before that birthday but issued only on or after the 16th birthday. Fourteen is associated with the School Learner's Permit, 15 with the Learner's Permit, and 17 with a Class O operator's license. The age and issuance distinction matters: early application does not authorize early issuance. Use the permit name as the cue, then separate the application window from the date the credential can actually be issued.

  2. 2. During what hours may a Nebraska POP holder drive unsupervised under the normal daytime permission?

    1. 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.
    2. Sunrise to sunset only
    3. 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
    4. 6 a.m. to midnight
    Show answer

6 a.m. to midnight. A POP holder may drive unsupervised in Nebraska from 6 a.m. to midnight. The manual allows an exception between midnight and 6 a.m. when the trip is to or from home, work, or a school activity, and it also permits driving at any time with a qualified accompanying adult. The other schedules either start too early, end too soon, or omit the permit's stated hours. Separate the normal unsupervised window from the narrower overnight exception when reading the rule.

  3. 3. What must a Nebraska driver have to move from a Provisional Operator's Permit to a Class O license?

    1. Reached age 16 with any record
    2. Held the POP at least 12 months, be at least 17, and have fewer than three points in the previous 12 months
    3. Held the POP for 30 days
    4. Completed a road test only
    Show answer

Held the POP at least 12 months, be at least 17, and have fewer than three points in the previous 12 months. To receive a Class O operator's license, you must have held your Provisional Operator's Permit for at least 12 months, be at least 17 years old, and not have accumulated three or more points on your driving record during the previous 12 month period. Points during the provisional year restart the clock, which is the program's incentive for clean early driving.
