The manual adds that it is not safe or legal to use tires once the tread is worn off or worn down to the wear bars, and it suggests a penny test: if you can see all of Lincoln's head in the deepest groove, the tires are too worn. Keep the right air pressure as well, since both overinflated and underinflated tires reduce traction.
