The CSV and JSON files contain the same rows as the table above, including a source URL and a verification date for every verified value. Empty fields and null values mean Not yet verified, with the same meaning as in the table.
Methodology
This report includes one row for each of the 50 states. Columns cover the number of questions on the knowledge test, the passing score, the permit fee, the minimum permit age, languages offered, the retake wait, the official handbook, and our practice test for the state.
A value is shown only when the record already stored on this site carries that exact value together with an official source URL and a verification date. Question counts and passing scores come from the sourced exam format records that reconcile the state logistics prose with the structured exam record. Permit fees come from the dated logistics fee record. Minimum ages and retake waits are shown only where a per fact verification record matches the stored value and source exactly. Languages come from the test day records, which carry their own official source. Handbook links come from the handbook record for the state, dated by its edition check. Values are quoted as stored. A count described by the state as a minimum is shown as a minimum, and a historical or regional figure is not shown as a plain statewide count.
Cells marked Not yet verified are facts we have not yet confirmed from an official source; we add them as we verify them.
No fact was fetched from the web for this report and no missing fact was filled in from another site. How facts are checked against official handbooks and pages is described at How we check. The data on this page is as of , the latest verification date among the verified values. Each cell shows its own verification date, which can be earlier.

Found an error? Use Report a mistake under any flashcard or practice question and name this page and the state, or write to the address on our contact page with the official page that shows the current value. A confirmed error is corrected in the underlying record, so the table, the CSV, and the JSON change together.
Official sources
There is no single source list for this table because each value has its own source. Select Source next to any value to open the official page or document that value came from, and check its verification date beside the link. Handbook links open the official handbook for that state. Practice test links open our own pages and are study material, not official sources.
Reuse and license
This dataset is published under CC BY 4.0. You may copy and reuse the CSV and JSON files, including for commercial use, when you attribute the data to QualitySpace and link to this page. The official facts themselves belong to their state sources. Please check the linked official source before relying on a value, because state rules change.
